Microsoft goes public with plans for its new Windows 8 file system ReFS- Resilient File System
Microsoft officials are sharing some details about the new ReFS file system that will debut first as part of Windows Server 8. Microsoft officials are finally sharing publicly details about “Protogon,” the new file system that the company is developing as part of Windows 8.
Officially named ReFS — for Resilient File System — the new file system will be made available via a staged “evolution,” according to a January 16 post on the “Building Windows 8″ blog.

Kinect is coming to Windows 8



Kinect is coming to Windows 8, along with specialized hardware that will be optimized for desktop situations with users as close as 40cm in front of the cameras. According to a Microsoft blog, there will also be a USB dongle to “improve coexistence with other USB peripherals”. Improvements to the speech and motion tracking algorithms continue to be developed. The kinect SDK has already been applied in the fields of medical imaging, special needs educations and physical therapy.
